사랑의 순례 / 말로

 

정열의 목동이 부른 사랑 노래

 

내게 와서 함께 살며 내 연인이 되어

온갖 기쁨을 시험하여 보아라.

골짜기와 수풀, 언덕과 들판이 주는 기쁨

산의 즐거움을 함께 누리자.

 

산골짜기 바위에 걸터앉아서

​목동들이 양을 치는 모습을 보아라.

시냇물이 흐르는 소리에 맞추어

​새들은 마드리갈을 노래하리라.

 

나는 너를 위하여 장미 화단을 만들고

​향기로운 꽃다발도 만들어 주련다.

예쁜 천인화(天人花) 꽃잎으로 장식한

​스커트도 네게 만들어 주련다.

 

귀여운 어린 양의 털을 깎아서

​멋진 양털 가운도 만들어 주련다.

예쁘게 디자인한 방한용 슬리퍼도

​황금 버클이 달린 띠도 만들어 주련다.

 

산호의 잠금과 호박 단추가 달린

​짚과 덩굴로 엮은 벨트도 주련다.

이런 멋진 선물이 마음에 든다면

​내게 와서 함께 살며 내 연인이 되어라.

 

신들이나 맛볼 수 있는 호화로운 음식을

은그릇에 담아서 네게 주련다.

상아의 식탁에 푸짐하게 차려 놓고

우리 둘이 매일 함께 식사하련다.

 

오월이면 젊은 목자들이 춤추고 노래하며

​매일 아침 네게 즐거움을 주게 하리니

이런 멋진 즐거움이 마음에 든다면

​내게 와서 함께 살며 내 연인이 되어라.

 

The Passionate Shepherd to his Love

 

Come live with me and be my Love,

And we will all the preasures prove

That hills and valleys, dale and field,

And all the craggy mountains yield.

 

There will we sit upon the rocks

And see the shepherds feed their flocks,

By shallow rivers, to whose falls

Melodious birds sing madrigals. 

 

There will I make thee beds of roses

And a thousand fragrant posies,

A cap of flowers, and a kirtle

Embroider'd all with leaves of myrtle.

 

A gown made of the finest wool,

Which from our pretty lambs we pull,

Fair lined slippers for the cold,

With buckles of the purest gold.

 

Andbelt of straw and ivy buds

With cral crasps and amber studs:

And if these preasures may thee move,

Com live with me and be my Love.

 

Thy silver dishes for thy meat

Asprecious as the gods do eat,

Shall on an ivory table be

Prepared each day for thee and me.

 

The shepherd swains shall dance and sing

For thy delight each May-morning:

If these delights thy mind may move,

Then live with me and be my Love.
